Art Basel

Art Basel – Miami, FL., Dec 1st, 2016

Surviving an earthquake is one thing, but recovering from Art Basel it’s a whole different monster. Between Wynwood and South Beach the best place to be is home. Its that time of the year when the city doubles one tourist,  and it’s also the most exhausting. Too many parties to RSVP to, and to be honest, all I want is a nap.  Where’s my pillow?

My thoughts go out to Michael Perez from Gallery 212 in Wynwood. Praying for a speedy recovery.

FALL: NYC

Fall., New York.,  October 1, 2016

I live in a city where the only season is summer all year long; therefore, it was nice to see fall for a change. Although my trip was a short one, I made the most of it. I booked my trip around The Roots Picnic because 1: I was not going to miss John Mayer and 2: I was not going to miss D’Angelo, and 3: I’m glad I didn’t ’cause I also got to see Common, who surprised us — not to mention that I had not seen Common in almost 20 years.  Fall in New York is a must, and I recommend it to anyone because New York for a weekend is always a good idea.

When In Rome…

Summer 2016

dsc00439-2

Rome at night is a sight to be had. Although my trip was cut short because of the earthquake that hit while I was standing in front of this glorious fountain, I am blessed to have experience such a sight.  I had plans to stay in Rome, and walk about the city, but I was rushed back to my hotel for safety reasons. I learned greatly things about myself that night, and about this gorgeous place. I learned that I am stronger than I have ever given myself credit for. That once hit with an emergency I no longer fall apart. I also learned that night that I am deeply loved. I learned that Italian’s really do dress well even as Uber drivers. I learned that wine is not for just drinking, but it should be used to cleanse the mouth before “Saying something nice”. I also learned that if you are going to go anywhere alone, always, always go to Rome.

Summer: Paris

Paris, France., August 2016

When good American’s die, they go to Paris -Oscar Wilde

I have always had a fear of heights, and that also included flying. How do you get over your fears, by tackling them head on. I happen to fight my fear by flying 8 hours to France alone. I spend a week in the city of love. I spent a week surrounded by beauty. I spent a week surrounded by a dream I had always dreamt of.

Manhattanhenge

Manhattan, New York., July 12, 2016.

Here we are 15 years later in the city that broke us apart, and I managed to capture one of those most fascinating events in NYC beside the ball dropping in Time Square on New Years Eve. Who knew we would get to this point? I spend 15 year looking for someone like you, and failed miserable. I have to be honest…I loved him because he reminded me of you. He smiled, walked and danced like you.  I loved him, even though he never deserved me, and then you came back into my life, and aside from the two wars, and the failed relationships we both have had, you’ve always chosen me.

Our love is complicated, but it has always been kind. And being here with you has made these last 15 years worth it. I am happy to have had this moment with you in this beautiful city, during this time of year, capturing this magical sunset which doesn’t come every day.  These are once in a life time moments, and I am glad the memory of you will be behind this picture always.

Love Rain Down

Miramar, FL., June 9th, 2016

love-rain-down

“Met him on a Thursday” in 1998, and it was the first time in my life that I had fallen in love with a man. He was everything I had always wanted in a partner; strong, charming, sexy and witty. We talked without restrictions, and danced without music, like these rain drops on this picture of the water tower in Miramar. Loving him was the easiest thing I had ever done in my life until 9/11 tore us apart.

SPRING: NOLA

Spring., April 24, 2016

I have dreamt of going to the French Quarter for as long as I could remember, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday month than by going to NOLA.

Welcome to Bourbon Street, where Southern Hospitality is by far the best, and just like Vegas, everything that happens here, stays here.

dsc00285-1dsc00309

You want to know who you truly are, then go some place you’ve never been. You will not only learn things about yourself, but you’ll also understand parts of the world and return whole.

dsc00468

I recommend to anyone celebrating a birthday soon to spend their birthday weekend in New Orleans. The food, the history, the people and the architecture is divine.  My birthday just so happened to fall around Jazz Fest, and I am glad I made the trip because I got to see Maxwell after almost 10 years.

Freeing Io

St. Petersburg, FL., April 16, 2016

tampa

I dreamt of this day forever, and as always forever came too soon. It was in St. Petersburg, where I was set free myself from fear, doubt and unanswered questions. I was set free from the sound of your voice, the sweat from your brow and the way you looked at me in the mornings. If I never come back to this town it will be just fine because I have now seen all I needed and closure never tasted so good on my lips.

Mercury, the son of Jupiter and Maia, was the messenger of the gods. He is usually represented with his winged sandals (telaria) and a winged cap (petasus). Here, Mercury helps Jupiter to free his lover Io, who was being watched by the monster Argus. Argus’ body was covered with one thousand eyes, some of which were open at all times. Mercury told long dull tales and played on his pipes until Argus went to sleep so deeply, that he closed all of his eyes. Mercury killed him, freeing Io.

What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than doing what you love most. Catching up with friends, and taking pictures. I made a conscious decision to celebrate the cardiac day in a different  place every year from now on, and what better way to spend it than by booking a weekend getaway to NYC. Look at that moon in the Upper Eastside, isn’t it magnificent?
